Welcome to the 2 Yr. Old class! I am Mrs. Martin, the Pre-k Coordinator and the 2 Yr. Old teacher. I have been in the field of Education for over 40 years and although I have taught numerous different grades, my first love has always been the little ones. With an Early Childhood major and a Master’s in Reading, I have never tired of the excitement in watching the youngest of children learn a new concept and especially the gift of reading.
These children are a delight to have in class. Sometimes, they aren’t so delighted to see me because that means mommy or grandma is leaving! Although they started off apprehensively, they are all eager to join their friends on the rug. In the short time that they have been in school, they have learned the classroom routine and know what is expected of them. They come to the rug daily, with their hands folded for prayer, which they follow with their hands on their hearts for the pledge. And of course, Mr. Froggy needs to be dressed each day according to the weather.
Every activity is a new adventure for them to learn about. They love to paint and play with shaving cream! Play Doh has become another favorite of theirs. Watching them interact with each other and learning how to share, (which isn’t always fun to do!) gives me insight in what is going on in their little heads.
Learning to take turns on the playground is a skill which is coming along nicely. It is wonderful to hear - “my turn” as they line up for the roller coaster ride.
At this tender age, the children grow so quickly in their understanding and maturity levels, that I look forward to seeing the progress that will be made by Christmas.
Once the children returned after Christmas, they were ready to go! Theyknow the classroom routines and get excited to participate in class activities.February: February 14 - Teacher Professional Day - no classes February 17 - Presidents' Day - no classes Pink and Red tasting day - February 12
