All students in grades 6, 7, 8th study basic Latin for one period a week. Knowledge of Latin helps students to increase their English vocabulary, better understand English grammar, organize their thinking; it lays a foundation for other romance languages. Latin also introduces students to the beauty and culture of classical civilization and its influence on our modern world. As the official language of the Roman Catholic Church, it enables students to appreciate the rich heritage of their Catholic religion.
